About the Journal

Tanzil: Jurnal Studi Al-Quran is a refereed academic journal published by Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Sadra, Jakarta. The journal provides a scholarly platform for critical and informed research in the field of Qur’anic studies, including literature studies, original research, and critical book reviews. It welcomes scholarly contributions arising from classical and contemporary discussions across diverse intellectual traditions, both Eastern and Western, with the aim of contributing to the development and resolution of theoretical, methodological, and practical issues in Qur’anic studies.

Aims and Scope

Tanzil: Jurnal Studi Al-Quran is dedicated to advancing scholarly research on the Qur’an and its interpretation through critical, methodological, and interdisciplinary approaches. The journal encourages studies that engage with both classical Islamic intellectual traditions and contemporary developments in Qur’anic scholarship.

The journal welcomes contributions addressing a broad range of topics, including Qur’anic Studies, Exegesis Studies, the Methodology of Qur’an and Tafsir Studies, Tafsir Nusantara, the Living Qur’an, Qur’anic Hermeneutics, the Qur’an and Social Culture, the Qur’an and Science, the thought of scholars and intellectual figures in Qur’anic studies, and thematic studies of the Qur’an.

Through these areas of inquiry, Tanzil seeks to facilitate scholarly dialogue across traditions and approaches and to contribute to the continuing development of Qur’anic scholarship.

Accreditation and Publication

Based on the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Number 295/C/C3/KPT/2026 , dated January 2, 2026, concerning the Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for the 2025 Period II, Tanzil: Jurnal Studi Al-Quran has been upgraded from SINTA 5 to SINTA 3.
