Call for Papers Tanzil: Jurnal Studi Al-Quran 2027
FOCUS
Tanzil: Jurnal Studi Al-Quran is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Sadra, Jakarta. The journal provides a scholarly platform for critical, analytical, and methodologically grounded studies in Qur’anic studies, engaging both classical and contemporary discourses from diverse intellectual traditions. The journal aims to contribute to theoretical, methodological, and practical discussions in Qur’anic studies through original research, literature-based studies, and critical book reviews.
SCOPE
Tanzil welcomes high-quality manuscripts addressing, but not limited to:
- Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis (Tafsir);
- Methodologies of Qur’an and Tafsir Studies;
- Classical and Contemporary Qur’anic Interpretation;
- Tafsir Nusantara (Archipelagic Qur’anic Interpretation);
- Living Qur’an Studies;
- Qur’anic Hermeneutics;
- The Qur’an and Social, Cultural, and Ethical Issues;
- The Qur’an and Science;
- Critical studies of figures and intellectual trends in Qur’anic studies; and
- Thematic (Maudhu‘i) Studies of the Qur’an.
Interdisciplinary contributions are welcome, provided that the discussion remains firmly grounded in Qur’anic studies and employs rigorous scholarly methods. of the manuscript is substantially grounded in philosophical or mystical perspectives.

This policy does not apply if the international collaborator is affiliated with the editorial board or serves as a Tanzil reviewer.
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
- Manuscripts must follow the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS), 18th Edition, Author-Date system. Page numbers are required when referring to or quoting specific passages, e.g., (Abdulwaly 2021, 30). Footnotes are not used for bibliographical citations.
- Manuscripts must strictly follow the official Tanzil: Jurnal Studi Al-Quran Template.
- Manuscripts must be written in standard American English (US English).
- Manuscripts must contain 15–25 pages, excluding References.
- Abstracts must be provided in English and Indonesian, with 200–250 words each.
- The title must be written in English, must not exceed 20 words, and must clearly indicate a focus on Qur’anic Studies and/or Tafsir.
- A maximum of five authors may be listed for each manuscript.
- At least 80% of all references must be scholarly journal articles, including a minimum of 30 journal articles published within 2018–2027 for manuscripts submitted to 2027 issues.
- Authors are strongly encouraged to use Zotero, Mendeley, or another reference-management application.
- Manuscripts involving authors affiliated with institutions in different countries must include a signed International Co-authorship Declaration and Verification Form, uploaded as an Additional File during submission.
