It carries articles, book reviews and viewpoints on islamic philosophical and mystical issues as these raise out of classical and contemporary discussions from Eastern and Western tradition, and the goal is to promote advanced research and theoretical dialogue among scholars from the varied traditions.

The name “Kanz” literally means treasure. The name taken from the Sacred Hadith (Hadis Qudsi) “Kuntu kanzan makhfiyyan…..” (I was a hidden Treasure…….) is chosen with the expectation that the journal is attempted to be a treasure that contains valuable matters that are high quality of knowledge. It is also a place to share knowledge, dialogue among academic scholars from different backgrounds concerning the issues to which the journal is devoted.

While “Philosophia” (Philosophy) in its meaning is the love of wisdom, a study about life, about the whole phenomenon of life, and critical human thinking, which is a necessary fundamental concept for all knowledge. The highest knowledge which is a hidden mystery, on the one hand, becomes the basis for the search of wise human being who ceaselessly seeks to maximize its ability to discover the treasure. On the other hand, the searching of this knowledge is also a process for human in perfecting himself, because the thirst and longing to approach God is the ultimate goal in human nature. As the problems of life are ceaseless, people would also do not cease to learn and seek.

Benarkah demikian? Apa yang dimaksud dengan intellectual exercise (IE)?  Lalu, apakah pendidikan filsafat baik melalui program studi yang terstruktur maupun kursus-kursus informal termasuk pengelolaan jurnal-jurnal filsafat merupakan IE belaka?
